November 2016

We welcome Addison, Drew, Oliver, Grayson, Jesse, Dan (3-5), Emma, Austin (Westwood Infant Toddler), Marcus (Coast Meridian) and their families.

We say goodbye to Mohammad and his family at the end of the month, who’s moving to Montreal.

We are sad to say goodbye to Amanda who’s moving to Salt Spring Island at the end of the month. She’s been a valuable asset at our IT program.  We wish her the best in this new phase in her life.  We will definitely miss her.

In line with Amanda’s departure, Jasmine will be back with the infants and toddlers.  Shiva is also coming back as she finishes her practicum in the middle of the month.  We are currently looking for a part-time educator at our 3-5 program.

We would also like to welcome Julie at Coast Meridian. She’s been  working at our Westwood locations for the  past couple of months.  Vicky will remain as our substitute teacher in our three programs.

It’s been fun having the parents join our field trips. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules.  We appreciate your help!

We’d like to thank Charlene Dubrule, who’s been our music therapist for three years.  She had decided to focus on her studio clients and has recommended Tyrone Barnes to replace her as our new music teacher.  Music class will also be held on Thursdays starting this month.  Here’s some information about him:

Tyrone Barnes has been playing guitar for thirteen years and has training on piano, voice, mandolin, percussion, flute, didgeridoo and other various instruments including audio recording and electronic music. Having travelled in parts of Africa, Asia, Europe and North America, he happily brings songs, genres and instruments from around the world into music therapy sessions. Graduating from Capilano University’s Bachelor of Music Therapy Program in the Fall of 2016, Tyrone also has training in The Bonnie Method of Guided Imagery and Music.

Tyrone’s clinical experience includes working with incarcerated youth with the Ministry of Child & Family Development, working in treatment and recovery of addiction with Vancouver Coastal Health, working with children diagnosed as ADHD and other behavioural challenges with the Vancouver School Board, working in geriatrics with Fraser Health, and working with youth and adults diagnosed with ASD with Arcus Community Resources.

Santa and Mrs. Claus are back!  We’ll have our Christmas Party at the 3-5 program on December 9th, Friday from 4:00 to 5:30.  We invite all families to join us.
We’ll be closed starting December 26th, Monday until January 2nd, Monday (New Year’s Day observed).  We will re-open on January 3rd.
